This course is designed to provide students with a better understanding of Officer deaths while on calls for service. This course will look at Domestic dispute calls, Disturbance calls, Officer needs assistance calls, Burglary calls, Suspicious Persons and Suspicious Vehicle calls, Officer initiated activity, and then explain the manner of the Officer's death. This course will address issues of complacency on the part of the Telecommunicator as well as the responders. This course will provide students with a closer understanding of why these every day calls for service are dangerous and should be taken seriously. Open to Telecommunicators, Law Enforcement, and any other responders.

The instructor: Jason Long is the founder and owner of LevelUp 911 Training. He is also a Law Enforcement Instructor III at the Kentucky State Police Academy and has been there since 2014. Before that, he was the Shift Supervisor for the Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg and has been dispatching since 1998. He is also the Chief of Milton Fire & Rescue in Milton Kentucky where he has been since 1997. He is also a former United States Marine Infantry Rifleman.

Response to Mental Health is an 8-hour course that helps students understand the diverse types of mental illness law enforcement may encounter. In this course, students will be taught how to recognize and respond to calls involving Schizophrenia, Dissociative Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and responder suicides. We will also look at our own mental health and how to deal with our own emotions after taking these calls. We will learn how to help those that are tasked with helping others.

As a Telecommunicator, you handle multiple domestic violence related calls for service almost daily. These calls are one of the most dangerous calls responders are sent to. This short course will help you better protect your responders and the public in domestic-related incidents. Taking this 2-hour class will help you understand the importance of taking domestic-related calls for service.
